The prototype is an accessory of the Lynk System, a passive functional orthoprosthesis. The system consists of a forearm orthosis that is used with different interchangeable accessories (in this case, modules). The system is currently available with 4 different modules that support the prehension function. Context: The project focuses on auxiliary aids for the hand. More than 100 million people worldwide are affected by hand function disorders and around 10% require hand positioning. Hand injuries significantly affect quality of life and work performance, and result in high consequential costs.
Problem: Accessibility to technical aids is limited by cost, comfort and functionality. Professionals generally develop customised solutions that focus on adaptation to the limb and interface, which is costly. At the same time, medical device manufacturers often work on complex and expensive final solutions that are supplied to professionals.<\/p>\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.17.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.17.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]\n

Improving ease of use, functionality and aesthetics is rarely part of development because of the high cost.
Solution: Macu4 developed the Lynk System – a modular orthosis with accessories to support or replace grip function. It was launched in 2024 as an MVP. Professionals are increasingly asking for a new accessory for positioning the hand.
The planned \u2018REST module\u2019 complements the existing system and offers a more cost-effective alternative to exoskeleton-based hand positioning solutions.<\/p>\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.17.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.17.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]\n

The originality of the system lies in its modular principle, which minimises the need for special manufacture. This is relevant not only for users, but also for the healthcare system, as it helps to reduce costs and combat the shortage of qualified staff.
Results: As part of the project, we successfully carried out tests with professionals and potential users. This enabled us to clearly define the key requirements in terms of usability and the feasibility of an off-the-shelf solution.
